Inspiration: Brack Tours
Since 2007, Brack Tours have provided unique and authentic
driving excursions, utilising their extensive local knowledge and years of
industry experience. They have already been inspired to make changes from the
inside out, from initiating ‘walk to work’ initiatives and incorporating green
procedure into special interest trips, to developing green packages to attract
the lucrative US market. Nuala Devlin Saul, Managing Director, considers
partnership crucial for the success of green tourism in Northern Ireland.
“Visitor attractions, bed and breakfasts, for example, don’t have tour
operators to showcase their products, so we need to collaborate to make this
work, and we need to do it quickly.”

Nuala said the team is excited about taking sustainability
forward in the business, and is aiming to become the first green tour operator
in Northern Ireland. “We’re very lucky to staff who, like myself, who have been
passionate about the industry for some years, as well as younger staff who have
studied Green Tourism at college. They bring fresh ideas as well as experience
in digital marketing, which is an incredible benefit to us.” Moreover, Nuala
considers it very much a two-way process. “We are taking on a student from
South West Regional College for a 400-hour internship,” she said. “Working alongside
a member of staff, he or she will create a database that will form the
groundwork for the project, as well as giving them valuable industry experience
for the future.”
